Might there be an updated second edition in the works. Some features are a bit out of date by now, but overall it is timeless. Funny and accurate, this book satirizes the manners and style of America's upper crust. What made it so successful in the eighties is that it is simultaneously a satire, for those in the know, and an actual handbook, for those hoping to pass as socially upwardly mobile.

Very fun to pick up and read on a slow Saturday afternoon and full of inspiration in terms of what preppy trends to resurrect in your life if you aren't still 100% prepster these days.Buy it if you can. Yes, it's spoofy, but it's so much fun and spot on in many cases. Did you grow up priviledged in the 80's. If so, chances are this book will bring back memories.
We know that fashion always repeats itself so this book is very in vogue right now. I was in high school when this book originally came out, it was my bible. If you are lucky enough to have a copy - you better keep it under lock and key. My teenage neices just love this book and are the envy of their friends. I have several copies and continue to give it as gifts to friends and family. I think the book has a "cult" like following.
